Here are the policies that are implemented at Wings Over Water in Baldwin Place, Somers, NY:
Student Absence
Each swimmer may request one makeup class per month. Families must call WOW to notify them of the swimmer's absence- the more notice, the better! Makeup lessons expire after 90 days. Within our abilities and what classes have space, we will do our best to find a class, time, and day for your makeup. Some levels and classes are full on certain days. All of our classes have teacher-student ratios that we will stick to when scheduling a makeup; we can accommodate a makeup swimmer only if there is space available.
Payments and Monthly Tuition
We gladly accept cash, personal checks, Visa/MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. Our online registration system accepts credit/debit.
We have monthly tuition. Around the end of each month, we will send out a reminder about the tuition for the next month. We will automatically bill your account and run your credit card for the tuition on the first day of the month. Your credit card information and the monthly tuition will be processed automatically. Your card on file needs to be current. Please call us with any change in address, credit card number, or expiration dates.
Monthly Membership Fee
Wings Over Water is a member-only facility. The $5 monthly membership fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Private lessons are paid in full at the time of scheduling. A 24-hour notice is required to cancel a private lesson. If you fail to call and cancel your lesson within the prior 24 hours, it cannot be rescheduled. To ensure your full private lesson, it is necessary to start on time. Lost time cannot be made up.
Refund Policy
Wings Over Water School of Swimming does not offer any cash refunds or returns to credit/debit cards. Membership fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Withdrawal from Program
To withdraw from the swim program please request 30 days in advance and it must be made in writing on our "withdrawal form" and submitted to WOW. Credit balances may be applied to another WOW program or retail merchandise.
Cancellations or Closings
Program cancellations do happen and are based on the safety and well being of our students and staff. Weather, facility or mechanical problems do happen and sometimes without a lot of notice.
Weather Cancellations
Please keep in mind that any cancellation of class is determined by existing weather conditions in the immediate WOW area. Such decisions are made with the utmost of consideration for the safety of all.
Snow / Ice

We will text and email all families if we are closing.
Thunder / Lightning
Upon hearing thunder or seeing lightning directly overhead, WOW is required by the Putnam County Health Department regulations to remove all swimmers from the water/pool deck. They must be clear from the water/pool deck for up to thirty (30) minutes from the last thunderclap or flash of lightning. The storm must pass before it is safe to re-enter the pool. Unfortunately, there is no way to plan this closing.
Facility Mechanical /Chemical Problems
If your class must be canceled due to facility problems, you will be contacted via text and email. Please make sure that WOW has all updated primary contact information, especially a valid email. In the event of a canceled class, swimmers can schedule a makeup class.
Teacher Illness / No Substitute Available
If your class must be cancelled due to unavailability of your teacher or a substitute you will be notified at once. Please make sure that WOW has all updated, primary contact information, especially a valid email. In the event of a canceled class, swimmers can schedule a makeup class.
